About Brian Wexler, Ph.D.
In June 2002, Dr. Wexler opened his private Palm Springs office, having completed a tour as a Naval Psychologist in San Diego and Camp Pendleton, followed by six years providing clinical services in a community mental health center in the Washington D.C. area where he worked as the Director of Outpatient Services for adults and children, as well as maintaining a busy independent clinical practice.
Clinical specialties include cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and chronic pain management, as well as assessment and treatment of adult and childhood disorders. Dr. Wexler has a solid cognitive behavioral background with advanced training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, family systems and health psychology approaches in assessment and treatment; integrated with treatment are concepts involving mindfulness and meditation as this relates to and contributes to optimal well-being.
In addition to his clinical and forensic practice, between August 2013 and July 2015, Dr. Wexler joined the core faculty of the University of California Riverside School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine, working specifically with the Family Medicine Residency Program. The position as their Behavioral Scientist/psychologist involved participation in the program development and ACGME accreditation, curriculum development and planning for resident rotations in Behavioral Health, active participation in the selection and interview process of resident applicants, and direct consultation and teaching with future residents and staff.
Beginning July 2015, Dr. Wexler joined the faculty at Eisenhower Medical Center as the Director of Behavioral Health, Graduate Medical Education, Family Medicine Residency Program, where he continues to work in the capacity of a clinical psychologist and behavioral scientist focused on program development, curriculum design in behavioral health, and mentoring residents to enhance their skills as a healer. He is responsible for coordinating the Behavioral Health and Community Medicine rotations, facilitates an active resident Balint group, and has been a coordinator and co-founder of the Coachella Valley Street Medicine outreach team.
In addition, as the first psychologist with Eisenhower Medical Associates, Dr. Wexler provides therapy at two locations, including Eisenhower Health Center at Plaza del Sol in Palm Springs, and at the Eisenhower Argyros Health Center, Center for Family Medicine in La Quinta, CA. Working with patients and providers in a primary care setting allows for an Integrated Behavioral Health approach, the ideal collaboration between medical and psychological care of the whole person.
